Fyberspates: Now at Manfield Crafts

March 30, 2011

You know those days when everything seems utterly wonderful? They are the ones where all roads lead to your armchair, knitting bag comfortably close and the sun’s golden rays blessing your needles.

Well, that’s one form of wonderful, perhaps. Here at Manfield Crafts, a better example is when we receive a package two days — two days! — before we were expecting it. Then we open it up to discover a yarn so soft that any self-respecting fairy would desire it for a pillow. But it doesn’t stop there. Not only is the yarn fluffy and fairy-worthy to the touch, it is a veritable feast for the eyes. So much so that, when arrayed on the counter, every colour pulls an ‘ooh!’ and an ‘ahh!’  from our lips, along with several more throaty sounds.

Even now we hear ourselves sighing with pleasure. But that’s because while we are writing this with one hand, the other is stroking the results of such a day.

What are we talking about? Why, that Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace has arrived at Manfield Crafts, of course.

Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace

Made from 45% silk and 55% merino, you can imagine the excellent drape this yarn has, whether as a lace shawl or a flowing asymmetric cardigan. That there is a faint sheen to the yarn only adds to the beauty of its movement. We made up a tension square (which is more like a scarf, as we couldn’t stop knitting) and the stitch definition is better than most 2ply yarns, making it perfect for the more intricate lace designs, as well as smaller projects.

Best of all, there is an amazing 1000m (1093yds) in every 100g skein, so at £15.99, it’s a bargain that will get you past even the most stoic of husbands.
